Turquoise Bowl

Description

“Turquoise Bowl” – handmade from terracotta clay thrown on the wheel, decorated using layers of coloured slips and finishing with a combination of clear glossy glaze and some decorative coloured glaze. You can see that the side of this bowl is quite different to the interior, as the brown of the terracotta clay has been allowed to come through the colours more, and the decorative coloured glaze has been allowed to melt and run a little to give an interesting, textured effect.

Fully handmade in our pottery studio. This is a unique item – there is only one available.

This piece was actually made through the teamwork of Gloria and Peter. Peter threw the form on the wheel and Gloria did all the decorating.

This size of this bowl is about 23 cm in diameter and 8.5 cm high.

“Turquoise Bowl” is fully functional and dishwasher safe. It would make a lovely addition to any tabletop, and could easily be used for fruit, bread, salads, hot vegetables – anything really.
