Ceramic Platter & Plate – Maitre Corbeau
Maitre Corbeau (Master Crow) – fully handmade and uniquely designed by Gloria, inspired by the French Poem “Le Corbeau et le Renard” (The Crow and the Fox) where the fox sees a crow in the tree with a bit of cheese in its mouth. In order to the get the crow to drop the cheese so the fox can eat it, the fox begins to flatter the crow so it drops the cheese while trying to sing.
In this series, Gloria has a cheese platter and a plate. These are the only two items available.
The clay was decorated with layers of coloured slips, bisque fired, then glazed with a clear glossy glaze and glaze fired.
The cheese platter has two small cracks that occurred during the bisque firing. These really make no difference to the piece, but we’re selling this at a lower price because of it.
