“Moss Wall” – a beautiful scarf whose timeless simplicity and remarkable monochrome elegance will enrich casual outfits.

Imagine the scene:
A wall of reindeer moss was impressive because of the scale: the length, the height and the texture.
The sensor in the camera can convey texture quite well.
Inverting the tone curve enables an abstraction towards other mental and multi-scale impressions.
Some see tree tops. Others see Petri dish bacteria. One saw fireworks.
A purple-loving guest inspired the inversion from the original green.
With thanks to Olafur Eliasson’s exhibition at Tate Modern.

Black Bamboo – Scarf [SOLD OUT]

“Black Bamboo” – a beautiful scarf whose timeless simplicity and remarkable monochrome elegance will enrich casual outfits.

Imagine the scene:
The first time I saw black barked bamboo was in a nursery in Dublin.
Vertical and elegant, the pot to contain it would cost more.
Twenty years later and it’s still growing in the back garden.
I think stem and leaf look best when backlit.
A simple over-exposure makes it something more.

Liffey Reflections – Scarf

“Liffey Reflections” – a beautiful scarf whose timeless simplicity and remarkable monochrome elegance will enrich casual outfits.

Reflections fascinate me. Always have.
From glazed skyscrapers in US cities to wind-shimmering puddles, I love looking at things that aren’t there.
And so there are many interesting visual distortions to choose from.
This is a rendering of a virtual River Liffey in Dublin reflected in a dirty riverside window.
I used a 35 mm lens made in 1959 and a panorama and stitch of three pictures.
And I desaturated the colour to monochrome to simplify the image.

Sailing Scotsman’s Bay – Scarf

“Sailing Scotsman Bay” – a beautiful scarf whose timeless simplicity and remarkable elegance will enrich casual outfits.

Imagine the scene:
Yachts race here. Unless becalmed.
Most of today’s sailors are unaware of the hundreds whose drowning is cued by the name of the bay.
An unusual blue haze or violet cast to the light had me reaching for a memorialising camera.
And now it’s your scarf.

Overhead in Brussels – Scarf

“Overhead in Brussels” – a beautiful scarf whose timeless simplicity and remarkable monochrome elegance will enrich casual outfits.

Surviving European 19th century shopping galleries and railway stations are like glass houses.
The patterns can be intriguing.
Their lighting changes continuously.
Millions pass underneath, rarely looking up, unaware of the weight of the glass nor the clouds.
