If any of you are like me, you probably saw the Sex in the City movie quite a few (or a thousand) times. Aside from the fashion, a very memorable moment for me is the scene where Carrie debuts her new and improved apartment, stocked full of vintage and modern finds for a look that, like her choice of clothing, just screams Carrie.
When that scene happened, I came face to face with a Paul Smith wall hanging fit for a true princess. I love this piece of art. I want this piece of art. I really cannot afford this piece of art but won’t you join me in ogling it and pretending it hangs on our walls?

I love the look. I love the splashes of color. Most importantly I love the symbol. Check out The Rug Company, one of my favorite home décor shops for this lovely depiction of love, other Paul Smith favs and countless of other fabulous finds.
Every so often something comes along that makes my heart flutter and my eyes sing. I want this sweater and I want it now! Its baggy, which it means it is perfect on even the most PMSey days where being fashionable seems to be impossible. It is adorable, which means I would pair it with my skinny jeans on any day this winter. (read: skinny day, fat day, cold cozy day)
As Fashiontribes reported, The Art Institute of New York is piggybacking on Tim Burton’s upcoming Alice in Wonderland movie (well hellooooo again Johnny Depp!) by creating what is sure to be an exhibit that proves fashion truly is the art we live in.
The installation of garments - fantastically titled Eat me! Drink me! Now Walk with Me! - use muslin for the creations, which represent their modern interpretations of the characters in the Lewis Carroll Classic (still one of my favorite stories of all time).

Alice in Wonderland Fashion Exhibit
What does this type of exhibit represent?
Fashion often gets a bad wrap in the world of art and academia. People that love it are seen as shallow. People that create it are stereotyped. Anyone obsessed with it is frequently seen as a waste of space. To that I say bullshit and I am rightfully glad that sometimes (even if it is not often) people dare to play with the artistic nature that fashion represents. Yes we get haute couture and risk takers in the industry. But it is not often the art world takes notice of creations that dare to provide an artistic concept of ideas, character and society using fashion as the means of expression and this interpretation of the classic tale gives us that.
I am immensely excited to see what this will look like and give kudos to the Art Institute for giving us such creativity.
Full details of this exhibit, which will be on display from December 18 – 25 can be found here.
So picture this. You are standing in front of a walk in jammed packed full of clothes. To the left of you lives a pile of clean laundry you have yet to put away. To the right of you 20 hangers are thrown haphazardly over your door, housing choice items that won’t fit into your massive walk in. Behind you your dressers overflow with lounge wear, PJs and panties. You sigh as you look at your collection and think to yourself, “I have absolutely nothing to wear.”
Sound familiar?

Rachel Zoe
If you are like me (and I am hoping you are or else I am one weird individual) the occurrence of having a closet (or many closets) full of clothes with the thought of nothing to wear is a very common phenomenon many will never understand.
Luckily, being that I have extensive experience using creative problem solving talents to combat this issue I can pass off my infinite wisdom to other fab ladies who may need some help with this cure.
The following bits of advice always help me when I am having “issues.” Have some of your own? Tell me about them!
Cures for the Nothing to Wear Sickness
Bring a friend over. Sounds silly I know, but it works. The biggest problem with our closets is that we are used to every item in there and over time we may develop a bit of blindness to items and combinations of items we can use. A friend is a fresh set of eyes. I guarantee if you have a friend walk into your closet she (or he) will see outfits you never dreamed of.
Rearrange your closet. When we get used to what we have, it is partially because we start to memorize where everything is. When you rearrange your clothing, I guarantee you will start to see new ways of wearing things. Perhaps put your coats on the opposite side. Get some cool organizational tools (I love the Container Store for this) and present your scarves and belts in a new way. If you normally have your sandals in one spot and your boots in another, switch them around. If you usually organize by type, switch to organizing by color. Here are countless ways you can rearrange your closet and they all work.
Take a day to play dress up. This may sound tedious but it can actually be a lot of fun. If you want to make a party of it, grab a few friends and a polaroid camera. The key is to take one day and try every single thing you own on.
Are you running screaming for the hills yet?
Really though, it is a hell of a project and most likely will take up the entire day. BUT, you will feel a thousand times better afterwards, probably a little lighter if you give anything away (like those jeans that have not fit since high school) and will be chalk full of some new fabulous outfit ideas.
If you have any tips that work for you, let me know and Happy Shopping! (In your closet!)
It is no surprise or secret how big a fan I am of Ideeli.
Now that Cyber Monday is here, I thought it best to make you fabulous people informed of some deals at Ideeli that are currently making my pocket book boil.
What is Cyber Monday? It is like Black Friday, but without the crowds, stampeads and crazy people punching you for the chance at the last Xbox and it begins the monday after Thanksgiving to mark the beginning of the online shopping season. Lots of deals and no crazy? Love it.
Head over to Ideeli for the chance to win (win meaning FREE yay!) a hot and yet classic Balenciaga bag. I am usually not the biggest fan of pink, but when it is in a handbag like this I really want to swoon. If I win I picture myself in a subtle classic outfit so the bag can really pop.

My current lineups for Friday are the Apple Store, Target and Victoria’s Secret. I might try to hit up a few more if I have not passed out by then.

Snakes. They slither with grace and can stare down even the most powerful of humans. With one look Medusa and her head of snakes could turn you to stone. Snakes are worshiped by the Greeks, represent healing and nature and are privy to the tree of knowledge responsible for the original sin. Their ethereal and mystic quality partially scares us and often arouses awe and wonder.
Perhaps this is why, when we adorn ourselves with snakes, we too feel altered. Powerful. Sexy. Mythical. Try out a large cuff to make an otherwise normal outfit pop on a night out.Perhaps you can treat yourself to a ring you can wear on those days where you need an extra kick. Large or small, this jewelry is sure to change your mood and your look.
These purple boots are made for fun
Must admit, got those Steve Madden’s for my birthday and have worn them a ton since. They go with many things despite being a pair of purple moccasins (who knew!). Pair them with lighter skinny jeans to offset the color and grab yourself a funky tank from Free People. Add on a sweater coat and you are good to go. The look is easy but stands out as fun. With or without jewelry we are sure your day will be brighter in these boots!
